Contributing to Formula Student vehicle development through mechanical design work involving the pedal-box and braking systems.

OVERVIEW
As a Mechanical Engineer with UTS Motorsports, I contributed to the development of the team’s Formula Student vehicle.
Working within a student motorsport environment provided experience with engineering beyond coursework, where component design must account for packaging, manufacturability, reliability, driver interaction and integration with the rest of the vehicle. My work focused primarily on the pedal-box and braking systems.
WHAT I WORKED ON

Pedal-Box Development
Contributed to the design and development of the pedal-box assembly, considering component arrangement, driver operation, mechanical packaging and integration within the vehicle.

Braking Systems
Worked on mechanical aspects of the braking system and its relationship with the pedal assembly, helping develop a system suitable for Formula Student vehicle requirements.

CAD & Mechanical Design
Used engineering CAD and design methods to develop components and evaluate how individual parts would integrate into the wider vehicle assembly.

Team Engineering
Collaborated with engineers from different vehicle subsystems, requiring designs to work within shared packaging, structural and manufacturing constraints.
